Cookie Policy

Last updated: [FILL IN: date this policy goes live]

About this notice

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on citytechstore.org, operated by CITY TECH STORE ([FILL IN: registered business name and CAC registration number]). It is written for Nigeria's Data Protection Act, 2023 (NDPA) and the NDPC's General Application and Implementation Directive (GAID) 2025, and should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

This is provisional wording pending a formal legal review — not a substitute for legal advice.

What are cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Browser storage (such as "local storage") works in a similar way, but stays on your device and is not sent to the website.

Some cookies are essential: a website can't work properly without them. Others, such as analytics cookies, are optional, and we only use them if you say yes.

Types of cookies we use

We use only two types of cookies: essential and analytics. We don't use advertising or personalisation cookies, and we don't sell or share cookie information for advertising.

Essential Cookies

Always Active

These keep you logged in, remember your cart and keep the site secure. They're needed for the site to work, so they don't need your permission and can't be switched off here.

Analytics Cookies

Your Choice

With your permission only, we use Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use our site (for example, which pages are popular), so we can improve it. When you first visit, we ask you to Accept or Reject them; both choices are equally easy. If you reject them, or don't choose, Google Analytics isn't loaded at all and none of its cookies are set.

What Google Analytics receives (only if you accept)

If you press Accept, your browser loads Google Analytics from Google and sends it information about your visit: the pages you look at (their address only — we remove order numbers, payment references and similar details first, keeping only search words, product and category numbers and the page number), the site you came from, your device and browser type, your screen size, your approximate location (country or city, worked out from your IP address) and how long you stay. We use it only to see how the site is used, in summary reports. Google Analytics' advertising features and Google signals are switched off, and we don't use it on our staff pages or when our staff are logged in.

Google acts as our service provider for this and is based outside Nigeria. Google keeps the analytics data for 14 months. Google's own privacy policy applies to its handling of this data.

Managing your cookie preferences

You can change your mind at any time with Cookie Preferences (at the bottom of every page, or the button below). If you change to Reject, Google Analytics stops straight away and its cookies are deleted from your browser.

Cookie Preferences

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block our essential cookies, you won't be able to log in, keep items in your cart or check out. Clearing them simply logs you out and asks for your cookie choice again.

Changes

If we add any other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy first and ask for your permission before setting them, with an equally easy way to say no.

Further information

Other services our pages load

Some parts of our pages come from other providers. When your browser loads them, that provider receives your IP address and basic browser details, as with any website you visit. We don't use them to track you, and their own privacy policies apply.

  • Cloudflare (cdnjs) — the page layout, icons and interactive parts of the site (Bootstrap, Font Awesome, jQuery, Leaflet).
  • Google Fonts — the website's font.
  • OpenStreetMap — the map of pickup stations at checkout.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — the "Are you human?" check on the log-in, sign-up, forgot-password, contact and newsletter forms. Cloudflare looks at information about your browser to tell people from automated bots. On the footer newsletter form it only loads once you start typing your email.

Two services are only used if you choose them, and you leave our site to use them: Google, if you log in with Google, and Paystack, when you pay online. Their own cookies and policies apply on their pages.

Your rights and contact

Your rights under the NDPA (to know, correct, delete and object) are explained in our Privacy Policy. Questions about cookies or your data: citytechstore01@gmail.com. [FILL IN: name or role of the person responsible for data protection, if you have one.]

You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe we've mishandled your data.
